About this wiki

Observability Wiki is a free reference covering the four pillars of observability — metrics, traces, logs, and continuous profiling — plus OpenTelemetry, the standard that ties them together, and the practices teams use to run it all in production. It's built for engineers who want a concise explanation of a concept and a curated, up-to-date list of the tools people actually use, without wading through vendor marketing.

How the wiki is organized

Content is organized into six hubs. Each hub has an overview page plus a growing set of in-depth articles on specific concepts within it. Every tool mentioned anywhere on the site also has its own page under /tools, covering what it is, why teams choose it, its general pricing model, and its real alternatives — not just a link out to the vendor's homepage.

How tools are listed

Tools are grouped by category so it's clear at a glance which options are free and self-hosted versus managed and paid. Inclusion on this site is not an endorsement of any single tool over another — the goal is coverage of the landscape, not a ranking. A tool's page reflects our best effort to keep facts (ownership, pricing model, current standing) accurate as of its last-updated date, shown on the page itself.

This site does not currently run any affiliate links or sponsored placements. If that changes in the future, it will be disclosed clearly on any page where it applies.
